There are more than five hundred wildlife sanctuaries in
India. In this post I’m going to share some top wildlife sanctuaries in India. Some
of wildlife sanctuaries are also named as bird sanctuary. Wildlife is of national
importance to preserve it from destruction. Tiger is the national animal of
India. Tigers in India are commonly called as Bengal Tiger.
This Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Andaman and Nicobar
Islands, with area space of 211.7 km square. There are many resorts and hotels in Andaman and Nicobar Islands specially reserved for adventure travelers and tourists.
Interview Island Wildlife Sanctuary
Interview Island wildlife sanctuary is located in Andaman
and Nicobar Islands, with area space of 133 km square. Tiny population of Feral Elephants remains in this wildlife sanctuary.
Landfall Island Wildlife Sanctuary
Landfall Island wildlife sanctuary is located in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with area space of 29.48 km square. It is home to Kari people,
tenth indigenous tribes of the great Andaman people.
Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary
This bird sanctuary is located in Andhra Pradesh the south
part of India and has the area space of 4040 km square. This bird sanctuary has
the large nesting colony of spot-billed pelicans.
Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve
This tiger reserve is located in Andhra Pradesh and
Telangana the south part of India, with the area space of 3568 km square. This
is the largest Tiger reserve in India.
Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary
Brahmagiri located
in Coorg District, State of Karnataka in Western Ghats, with the area space of
181.29 km square. The best about Brahmagiri is that it is forested and has lot
of wildlife.
Talakaveri Wildlife Sanctuary
Talakaveri Wildlife
Sanctuary is located in Kodagu District in the state of Karnataka, with area
space of 105 km square. Some of the species of flora are found here.
Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary
Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary located in Kodagu District of Karnataka
state, with the land space of 102 km square. This sanctuary is designated as
one the important bird sanctuary in the world.
Nagarhole (Rajiv Gandhi) National Park
Nagarhole is awarded as the thirty seventh tiger reserve
project, located in Kodagu District of Karnataka State, with land space of 643
km square.
Magadi Bird Sanctuary
Magadi bird sanctuary located in state of Karnataka has the
best and beautiful birds in the world.
Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary
Bhadra located near Western Ghats, north of Bangalore, with
the land space of 492 km square.
